The mill was meeting its rolling plan 100%, but acceptance lagged: by week six, 12% of the order was rolled but not accepted. The bottleneck was a single test-specimen machining centre. We agreed two shifts for the laboratory and sampling at the mill exit; the backlog was cleared in 19 days and the order ran with a buffer of certified stock.
DN 200 PN 160 valve bodies with a corrosion allowance: the factory's own drawing and machining route card did not carry the allowance. We stopped machining on every affected item, the tolerance stack-up was recalculated in two days and the schedule was unaffected. A check of the remaining drawings found two more items with the same error.
Steel structures for a project in Iraq: the client had placed the order with a Chinese supplier on its own; by early June it had received nothing — communication had broken down and nobody would confirm the order status. Our specialist went to the supplier's office and warehouses and found that three different factories were doing the manufacturing: the supplier was a trader. We secured firm shipment dates, had the documents prepared and legalised, and brought all five lots to shipment with photo and video records.
